Welcome to the Kinnikinnik Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR)! Please enjoy your visit to these pages as you explore and learn more about who we are, what we do, our patriot ancestors , how to join us , and resources to celebrate patriotism, champion education, promote historical preservation, and research your own family history. Additional information about the DAR can be found on the website of the Colorado State Society NSDAR and the National Society DAR . Kinnikinnik Chapter NSDAR was organized January 1914. Mrs. Winfield Scott Tarbell, State Regent, appointed Mrs. Norman M. Campbell, organizing chapter regent. The charter, dated December 29, 1914, records 39 names. The first gavel is made of wood from George Washington’s Mount Vernon and was presented by Mrs. Tarbell. It is still used at each chapter meeting. Kinnikinnik Chapter NSDAR sponsors a Colorado Springs area National Society Children of the American Revolution . Any boy or girl who is lineally descended from an American Revolutionary War ancestor is eligible from birth up to age 21. Service to America Members are involved in community service to discover the rewards of volunteerism, demonstrate the positive volunteer opportunities associated with our mission, and to help make our local communities a better, more friendly place.
